What is counselling?

Counselling provides a safe and confidential space for you to talk to a qualified professional about your issues and concerns. Usually people come to counselling because something isn't right. Some might bring clear goals to counselling, and need some support in achieving them. Some may not know what they want or where to start, and that's ok. Your counsellor will help you explore your thoughts, feelings and behaviours so you can develop a better understanding of yourself and those around you.

A counsellor won't offer their opinion, advice or prescribe medication. Their role is to help you find your own solutions, whether that’s making changes to suit your life or finding better ways of coping with your situation.

Humanistic Existential therapy

As a Humastic Existential counsellor, my aim is to build a relationship with you that's based on safety and trust, and create an environment where you can explore whatever is on your mind, freely and without judgement.

Everyone is unique and sees the world differently, so I won't make assumptions about what you think or how you feel about the topics you bring to counselling. Instead, my focus will be to see things from your point of view by reflecting your words back to you and asking questions to understand more about what you're sharing with me.

Everyone needs purpose in life and sometimes we lose ours, particularly when going change or loss. When this happens, it can feel like we've lost who we are and what we want. My approach is about helping you make sense of what's going on, so you can see things more clearly and take responsibility for making the choices that are right for you.

Hopefully that gives you an idea about the way I work, but if you have any questions please get in touch!
